| 🐝 EVANSVILLE BUZZ ⌁ your weekly pollen report ⌁ | | 🍌 | Touchdown Jesus Is About to See Some Things. You know that one friend who shows up to a black-tie wedding in a banana-yellow tux and somehow ends up being the best part of the night? That's what's about to happen to Notre Dame Stadium. On Saturday, June 26, 2027, the Savannah Bananas take on the Texas Tailgaters inside the House That Rockne Built, and it's the first baseball game ever played in there. Ever. In a building that opened in 1930. Here's the catch, and it's a big one: you can't just click "buy." Banana Ball tickets go through a random lottery, and sign-ups close Saturday, Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. That's 10:59 p.m. here in Evansville, so don't get cute with the time zones. The scariest thing you do this Halloween might be forgetting to sign up. Let's get into it. |

| | | | THE BACKSTORY Baseball, But It Drank Three Energy Drinks. If you've somehow missed the Bananas on your For You page: they started as a summer team in Savannah, Georgia, then went all-in on their own invention, Banana Ball, and turned it into a touring show that sells out big-league stadiums. Think baseball with the boring parts surgically removed. The rulebook reads like it was written at 2 a.m. on a group chat (in the best way): - Two-hour time limit. No four-hour slogs. You'll be home before the babysitter starts texting.
- Every inning is worth a point. Win the inning, get the point. Blowouts don't really exist.
- No bunting, no stepping out of the box. Keep it moving, buddy.
- Fans catch a foul ball? It's an out. Bring your glove. You are now part of the defense.
- Batters can steal first. Yes, first. On any pitch.
And it has gotten enormous. The 2027 tour hits 79 stadiums in 74 cities, including 23 MLB parks and 10 football stadiums, with stops in Mexico and Canada. The Baseball Hall of Fame gave them an exhibit back in 2023, and a Disney movie about the team premieres June 12, 2027 at Truist Park outside Atlanta. Not bad for a team whose first base coach dances more than he coaches. Now, about those Texas Tailgaters. Don't sleep on them. They beat the Bananas 4-3 in front of 102,000 people at Texas A&M's Kyle Field in May 2026, then beat them again, 2-1, in the first-ever Banana Bowl at Nationals Park on Oct. 10. That's two big-stage losses in one year. The Bananas are going to walk into South Bend with something to prove (and probably a choreographed dance about it). The setup inside Notre Dame Stadium is pure chaos, too. According to the AP, the plan is two fields in opposite corners of the stadium, with the teams switching fields every inning. Two diamonds. One football cathedral. Notre Dame's own announcement didn't hold back either: "We are beyond thrilled to welcome the Savannah Bananas to Notre Dame." Same, Notre Dame. Same. |

Why You Should Go - You'll be at the first baseball game ever inside Notre Dame Stadium. That's a bar trivia answer you get to say "I was there" about.
- Two fields, one stadium, teams switching every inning. Nobody has seen this before, including the people running it.
- It's a grudge match. The Tailgaters took two big ones from the Bananas in 2026.
- $35 gets you in the door, which is less than a tank of gas to South Bend. (Not by much. But less.)
🐝 BONUS BUZZ The lottery is random, so signing up today and signing up at 10:58 p.m. on Halloween give you the exact same shot. No need to camp on the page like it's Taylor Swift presale. What actually matters: only buy through BananaBall.com. The Better Business Bureau has warned about fake Banana Ball tickets floating around social media and resale sites. If a stranger on Facebook has "2 extra Bananas tix, Venmo only," that's a hard no. |

| | | | 🚗 THE EVV ANGLE Five Hours to the Promised (Banana) Land.South Bend is about 315 miles from Evansville, which works out to roughly five hours in the car. Most routes run straight up I-69 to Indy and keep heading north from there. That's a lot of interstate, but it's also a lot of time to argue about the playlist, eat an entire box from Donut Bank before Washington, and practice your foul-ball catch with a pool noodle in the back seat. One thing that will absolutely get somebody: South Bend is on Eastern time. You lose an hour on the way up. Whatever start time they announce, that's an hour earlier on your Evansville clock. Plan accordingly, or plan to sprint across the parking lot. Fun fact, Evansville! ⚾ We already know a thing or two about ballparks becoming movie stars. Bosse Field, home of the Evansville Otters, opened in 1915 and is where they filmed A League of Their Own. So when the Bananas' Disney movie drops next summer, just know Evansville did the ballpark-on-the-big-screen thing first. With Tom Hanks. No big deal. |
Can't swing South Bend? The same lottery covers the whole 2027 tour, and a few stops land a lot closer to the Lloyd: - Busch Stadium, St. Louis · April 10–11, 2027 · Bananas vs. Clowns, their third straight year at Busch. Under three hours away.
- Victory Field, Indianapolis · April 30–May 1, 2027 · Banana Ball comes to Indy.
- Louisville Slugger Field · July 9–10, 2027 · Banana Ball, but heads up: this one's the Clowns vs. the Tailgaters, no Bananas.
- Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati · July 23–24, 2027 · Bananas vs. Party Animals.
But let's be honest. St. Louis is a fun weekend. Notre Dame is a story. Nobody's grandkids are asking about the time you saw a game at a regular ballpark. |
| | 🐝 THE FINAL BUZZ Don't Get Tricked Out of This Treat.Think of the Banana Ball lottery as the full-size-candy-bar house of 2027. Everybody on the block knows about it. Everybody's heading there. And the porch light goes off at 10:59 p.m. Evansville time on Halloween night. After that, you're standing on a dark porch holding an empty pillowcase, scrolling resale sites you shouldn't trust. There's no guarantee what lands in your bag. Maybe it's Notre Dame. Maybe it's Busch. Maybe it's nothing this round. But you definitely don't get the king-size bar by staying home with the lights off. So put on the costume. Walk up to the door. Ring the bell. Hold out the bag. Say the magic words. |
