| YOUR EVV FAMILY FUN GUIDE | AUG 5 – 10 · 2026 |
| 🐝 EVANSVILLE BUZZ’S LIL’ BEES ⌁ your weekly family fun report ⌁ an evansville buzz production | | 🐝 | 🍯 THE HIVE CHECK Summer Is Not Going Quietly Evansville, there is a school supply list in your car right now and we are all pretending we do not see it. Good. Because this week the zoo lights up after dark four nights running, Henderson throws a 40th birthday party for bluegrass on the riverfront, and there is a storytime happening inside an actual airport. An airport. Then the weekend goes full send. Smokey Bear has a birthday party at Harmonie, the Evansville Museum hands out free admission all Friday afternoon, cMoE opens Spark Lab for free on Sunday, and Wathen Farms rolls out tractors, a barrel train, and a bounce house. Pack snacks like you’re crossing the Oregon Trail. You are. Let’s get buzzin’. |
| | 🐝 THE HIVE FIVE The big ones for little wings.Worth the car seat wrestling match. Worth the snack bag. Worth being home by naptime. | | | | FESTIVAL ALL AGESFri, Aug 7 · noon through Sat, Aug 8 · 10 PM · Audubon Mill Park, Henderson Bluegrass turns 40 on the Henderson riverfront with two full days of live bluegrass and acoustic music. There are artisan and food vendors, folklife demonstrations, Breakfast in the Park, and hands-on activities built for every age. Bring lawn chairs. Bring the kid who cannot sit still through one song. 🎒 Parent Survival Tip: Two days means you get a do-over. Friday afternoon is the quieter shift for little ears, Saturday brings the full crowd. Chairs are on you, so load the trunk before you back out of the driveway. |
| | | | ANIMALS Thu, Aug 6 – Sun, Aug 9 · 6–10 PM · Mesker Park Zoo More than a mile of giant Chinese lantern displays takes over Mesker after hours, turning the whole zoo into an illuminated walk-through of larger-than-life scenes. There is live local entertainment mixed in. It runs four nights this week, which means one of them fits whatever bedtime you are currently negotiating. 🎒 Parent Survival Tip: Mesker’s hills are legitimate cardio and the back loop gets dark. Stroller for anyone under 6, and start right at 6 if you want them home before the meltdown window opens. |
| | | | STORYTIME Sat, Aug 8 · 10–11 AM · Evansville Regional Airport EVPL takes storytime to the airport. Songs, dancing, reading, and early-literacy activities, with real planes on the other side of the glass. If your kid narrates every single plane that crosses the backyard, this is the crossover episode they have been waiting for. 🎒 Parent Survival Tip: Registration opens at 9:30 and stories start at 10, so roll in early and claim a seat. The first four hours of airport parking are free, so the meter is not your problem today. |
| | | | OUTDOORS Sat, Aug 8 · 10 AM–2 PM · Harmonie State Park Smokey Bear is having a birthday party at the Outdoor Education Pavilion by the Nature Center, and your crew is invited. Learn the true story behind the most famous bear in fire prevention, then stay for games and crafts. Drop in any time between 10 and 2. 🎒 Parent Survival Tip: Drop-in means this one bends around naps instead of the other way around. Harmonie is a real drive out past New Harmony, so make it the anchor of the day, not a quick errand between errands. |
| | | | FARM DAY Sun, Aug 9 · 10 AM · Wathen Farms, S. Green River Rd A one-of-a-kind tractor collection, classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, a kids’ classroom, barrel train rides, and a bounce house. This is the exact event your four-year-old has been describing to you in fragments since last summer. It is on Green River Road, so there is zero highway math involved. 🎒 Parent Survival Tip: Farm ground plus August means closed-toe shoes and real sunscreen, not the cute sandals. Barrel train lines build fast after 11, so the first hour is the sweet spot. |
