| 🐝 EVANSVILLE BUZZ ⌁ your weekly pollen report ⌁ | | 🐝 | Six Years Later, the Chairs Finally Turned In 2020, a 17-year-old from Cynthiana got flown to California by The Voice. She quarantined, rehearsed, got fitted for wardrobe and came this close to the Blind Auditions. Then COVID cuts sent her home before she ever sang a note on TV. On Wednesday night (Sept. 23), Kenna Elpers finally walked onto that stage for Season 30 of NBC's The Voice. She sang Chris Stapleton's "White Horse." Queen Latifah turned. Riley Green turned. She picked Team Riley. That wasn't just an audition, Evansville. That was unfinished business. Let's get into it. |
| | | | | | THE BACKSTORYOh, and This Isn't Her First Rodeo📍 Cynthiana, IN · 🎸 Country singer-songwriter · 🎂 23 Kenna has been telling people she'd be a country singer since she was 3. She got her start on the local circuit, sitting in with her cousin Andrea Wirth of The Honey Vines at the old Lamasco Bar & Grill (now Ray Leo's at Lamasco), and by 13 she was playing gigs of her own. Then, in 2020, The Voice reached out to her. At 17, she made it through the producer rounds and was flown to Burbank. She spent 10 days quarantined in a room, then went through band rehearsals, wardrobe and vocal coaching. Nearly three weeks inside the Voice machine. She was almost there. Then COVID hit production, and about half the contestants were cut, Kenna included. She never got to sing a Blind Audition. The show invited her back the next season, and she said no thanks. The timing wasn't right. So she took her shot on another show. She made it through round after round of American Idol and ended up singing for Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Lionel said yes and told her what she had to offer was unique. Katy and Luke said no. Kenna said she'd write better songs, and she kept going. She moved to Nashville at 18, played honky-tonks, and landed the Bluebird Cafe and The Listening Room. Back home, she sang the anthem at Lucas Oil Stadium and Busch Stadium, and she made the 2022 Boots at Busch Finals. Then, in 2023, she suddenly lost her voice. She was diagnosed with dysphonia and had to relearn how to sing through intense vocal and speech therapy. She came back with a raspier tone and a lot more grit. Along the way she opened for Riley Green, Dylan Scott, Maddie & Tae, Craig Campbell and Jameson Rodgers. Remember that first name. It's about to matter. |
| | | | THE AUDITIONShe Brought the Receipts 😂📺 NBC · Aired Wed., Sept. 23, 2026 · Blind Auditions, Night 3 Kenna picked "White Horse," the Chris Stapleton song that won two Grammys. That's a bold choice, and she went all in. Queen Latifah turned early ("You're amazing. I turned my chair really quickly"). Riley Green held out until nearly the last line, then spun around too. Both coaches heard some nerves. Riley's take: "I think that's something you can definitely beat." Then the kicker. Kenna didn't just tell Riley they'd met. When she opened for him at a festival in 2023, he handed her a signed koozie, and she brought it to The Voice, hoping to raise it on Team Riley someday. Riley's response: "I've threw out a lot of koozies over the years." Fair. But how many of them showed up on national TV three years later? Queen Latifah made a strong pitch ("I know good singing and good performing"). Still, the koozie had already decided this one. Team Riley. Folks, never throw away the merch.
